Texel (pronounced 'tes-sel') is the largest of the Wadden Islands. About 3km north of the coast of North Holland, it is full of white-sand infinite beaches, sheep farms, and and quaint villages.
At the island's most northerly end, there is the sturdy red lighthouse, the symbol of Texel. 118 steps up to the gallery, 45 metres above sea level, and you can observe the North Sea and the Wadden Sea.
